some tips for posting your dragons
i've noticed we have some newcomers, so i thought i'd post some tips for getting your dragons views.
the first thing is that dragons really need the views, not so much the clicks.
when you're on your scroll, click on the Account link (http://dragcave.net/account). at the top of the second column, there's a link to Get HTML/BBCode (http://dragcave.net/code2). there you will see two options, and a box of code. copy the code from the box marked "HTML"
once you get here on LJ, there's a link in the sidebar marked "Post Your Adoptables" (http://www.livejournal.com/update.bml?usejournal=the_hatchery) - it takes you right to a page where yuou can post right to![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
the_hatchery. use the setting marked HTML (NOT the Visual Editor). i know the plain white empty box may look daunting, but all you need to do is paste that text you copied from your scroll into that plain white empty box.
at the bottom of the page, there's a button to "Post to the_hatchery" - click that and your eggs and hatchies are posted!
BBCode will give you a page of coding that's confusing. Posting your Incubator image is all right... but that means clicking may take the person away from LJ. posting the sprites directly in an entry also ensures your eggs will also get viewed as someone is reading their friends' list - once the friends' pages get loaded in on that person's computer, the egg or hatchie gets another view. and that's what's needed!
also, don't forget to check out all the links on the Profile (http://the-hatchery.livejournal.com/profile) page - there are other LJ communities to post your dragons (let me know if any of them have closed!) as well as other non-LJ hatcheries.
