Oct. 1st, 2010 07:04 amVideo: Guillermo del Toro shares his vampire knowledge
When he's not making stunning, Academy Award-winning films, writer/director Guillermo del Toro has been spending his time co-authoring spellbinding novels. His latest, The Fall, is the second installment in The Strain Trilogy, a bloody vampire epic. Writer Chuck Hogan works with him on the project.
Publisher William Morrow just posted a video with del Toro that I think is pretty interesting: In it, he talks a little about The Fall but names a bunch of his favorite pieces of vampire literature. He shows several illustrations and explains how he took his favorite parts of vamp lore -- "for example, Eastern European vampires have a stinger on their tongue" -- and inserted them in The Strain Trilogy. This guy knows his stuff.
