Quick summary: Boyd (Guy Pearce in the background here) is banished to this mostly abandoned fort in the middle of nowhere. The small crew keeping the place running is a motley bunch. Neal is Reich, the tough-as-nails soldier.

Colqhoun says that he was part of a group that got stranded in the mountains. They resorted to eating each other to stay alive. Col. Ives was especially blood thirsty and Colqhoun ran away to save himself.

This is only about halfway through the movie and it's about the last time we see Reich alive. There's another scene where Boyd is stuck in a ditch with Reich's blood-covered body, but that's a little gross so I decided not to cap it.
