A/N: This a WIP. Title and some bits of inspiration from “Throw Me a Rope” by KT Tunstall.

Summary: He can’t even turn on his fan for fear of missing the sound of her feet dropping lightly against the scorched earth between their houses. He holds his breath, waiting waiting waiting for the touch of her hand pulling back the sheets. She shuts the window on her way in, cracks the door to the hallway, blissful cool air wandering through the slit to create goosebumps over his chest, the sheen of sweat drying to a dull sticky feeling over his skin.
