'Twilight' Exclusive: Our Soundtrack Snap Judgments!
Though the Twilight official soundtrack doesn't come out until Nov. 4, EW yesterday received the rock-laden album to preview before fans gather to sink their teeth in at Hot Topic listening parties on Oct. 24. After settling in for an evening with the new tunes from Paramore, Mute Math, Perry Farrell, Robert Pattinson — and the much-anticipated ''Bella's Lullaby'' — here are our first impressions. Let us know which songs you're most looking forward to on the message boards below each screen.

title or description

MUSE, ''Supermassive Black Hole''
The soundtrack gets off to a rockin' start with Muse (no strangers to a Stephenie Meyer playlist), whose angsty tune could be Edward Cullen's bad-ass theme song. ''I thought I was a fool for no one, but baby, I'm a fool for you.'' HOT.

PARAMORE, ''Decode''
The first of two Twilight songs by the Tennessee quartet conveys the ''building tension, awkwardness, anger, and confusion between Bella and Edward,'' explains lead singer and Twilight fan Hayley Williams at stepheniemeyer.com. ''Bella is the only mind Edward can't read, and I feel like that's a big part of the first book and one of the obstacles for them to overcome.'' With more than 2.5 million plays so far on the band's MySpace page, the message is obviously getting through loud and clear.

THE BLACK GHOSTS, ''Full Moon''
On repeat listens, I might just skip past this otherworldly number. It isn't a terrible song — it's just kind of boring. Heavily reverbed vocals, a plucky guitar, and melancholy strings set atop a simple drum machine beat — it sets a certain mood but not one that did much for me.

LINKIN PARK, ''Leave Out All the Rest''
It's a love song by another of Stephenie Meyer's playlist muses, but I'm really not sure why this track needs to be here. Most of the lovey-dovey talk sounds nothing like our blood-sucking hero: ''Don't resent me. When you're feeling empty, keep me in your memory. Leave out all the rest.'' Isn't Edward constantly reminding Bella that he's dangerous and that she shouldn't be with him?

MUTE MATH, ''Spotlight (Twilight Mix)''
Driving beats, pulsing hand claps — I can easily imagine this New Orleans quartet blasting from the stereo system in our veggie vamp's Volvo as he whizzes in and out of traffic on a stretch of rainy Washington back roads.

PERRY FARRELL, ''Go All The Way (Into the Twilight)''
Putting the name of the movie into the title and lyrics feels slightly gimmicky/obvious, but you've got to hand it to the former Jane's Addiction frontman, he knows his Twilight. Sample lyric: ''The first time I saw you, I had the fever.'' (What a polite way of saying ''I wanted to completely devour you!'') Fan sites have chewed over Farrell's explanation that ''The song conjures up that adolescent feeling when a young man, who has been pursuing a girl he really likes, finally gets her.'' Those remarks and the song's title make this track a top contender for the mood music accompanying Bella and Edward's first steamy lip lock. But I guess we'll have to patiently wait until Nov. 21 to know for sure.

COLLECTIVE SOUL, ''Tremble for My Beloved''
Another of Stephenie Meyer's go-to bands, Collective Soul's upbeat number is the only song that appears on both Meyer's playlist and the official soundtrack. Perhaps it's just the 14-year-old girl in me, but anything by these Georgia rockers feels like a welcomed bowl of comfort food. Mushroom ravioli, anyone?

PARAMORE, ''I Caught Myself''
Is it Bella? Or is it Edward? It's Bella. No, it's Edward. This was my internal monologue while listening to Paramore's second Twilight track. Whose perspective are the pop-rockers trying to convey? The beauty of this up-tempo song is that it could be either.

BLUE FOUNDATION, ''Eyes on Fire''
With a slow and ethereal quality similar to ''Full Moon,'' ''Eyes on Fire'' has a dirge-like vibe that's only heightened by a Phantom of the Opera-esque organ interlude and Gregorian-like chants. Smoldering topaz it's not.

ROBERT PATTINSON, ''Never Think''
I'm not going to pretend I didn't immediately skip to this track the second I dropped the preview CD into my colleague's Discman (yes, someone in our office still owns a Discman). After catching a quick bite of the beautiful Brit's folksy Whisky a Go Go performance on YouTube, I was eager to hear what the thesp would do on his first bona fide recording. He did not disappoint. The delicate guitar and laid-back vocals (compared by some to a young Jeff Buckley) would be the perfect background to Edward and Bella's post-fight reunion in the hospital. We may not be getting Pattinson's version of ''Bella's Lullaby,'' but this track leaves me wanting for nothing — well, maybe a personal serenade.

IRON & WINE, ''Flightless Bird, American Mouth''
Samuel Beam's quiet ditty is a fine pairing with Pattinson's melancholy stunner (not to mention a relaxing afternoon in a meadow).

CARTER BURWELL, ''Bella's Lullaby''
The prolific film score composer (Burn After Reading, Adaptation) was tasked with creating one of the disc's most anticipated numbers: Edward's musical love letter to Bella. Unfortunately, the piano composition relies too heavily on a background of lilting (but lovely) strings to supply its emotional oomph. And at only 2:20 minutes, it will no doubt leave devoted Twilighters thirsty for more. It's like a love letter sent unsigned.
