(from my LJ)

i was chatting with [livejournal.com profile] phoenixrising69 about all the frakas about S3. and told him my thoughts, and said i ought to post it. so he said "go for for it." and since i'm good at causing trouble, i am posting it!

basically i said we ought to just leave the CW alone - if we keep bombarding them with letters and postcards and petitions and goddess knows what else -- they [the CW] could just throw their arms up in the air and go "whatever!" and cancel it before S3 even airs.

it doesn't matter what your opinion on the spoilers is -- filming starts in less than a month. we don't want to piss off the CW so that filming never starts.

keep in mind that i don't know that this will happen, but the possibility is out there, i'm sure....

that is all; now back to your regularly scheduled ramblings....

I agree that a negative letter-writing campaign could be detrimental to the show; we already know that Dawn Ostroff doesn't "get" SPN, and if the fans become a thorn in her side, she's not going to be thrilled. I don't think there's any way to stop the stampede of (IMO) mostly teenaged girls screaming at the very /notion/ that two gorgeous 20-something males might be *gasp* attracted to women, and vice-versa. Because, see, then they can't imagine /themselves/ as the ones S&D are attracted to.

I'll just be over here headdesking.

I'm right there with ya :) This whole thing just astounds me.. that there are people out there with SO MUCH free time that they can get their knickers in a twist over an unwritten, unfilmed and unaired episode. I mean, do these people actually watch the show, or are they so blinded by the pretty that all sense and perspective have left them? Because as far as I'm concerned Kripke can write an episode about the boys reading the phone book and it would be damned good tv.

That could very well be. I'd be interested in seeing poll results on that. As well as the ages of those most upset. From what I've read so far the loudest complaints seem to be coming from the younger fans.
