Adopt one today!Adopt one today!Adopt one today!Adopt one today!
This is probably a long shot but, I was gifted a silver egg that they didn't tell me was inbred beyond the point of being able to ignore it. The same dragon is used TWICE in BOTH parents lines, on top of the fact that there's probably a grand total of 8 dragons in a 14 generation pedigree. So... does anyone have a silver they were going to freeze that they want to trade for my silver that I have no choice but to freeze because I can't breed it :/? I wouldn't be freezing the traded one.

Get back to me in a few days. I have a silver egg, if it genders male I will be freezing it.

Why would you want to destroy a perfectly healthy dragon, just because you don't want another male? Don't you know that there are a ton of people who want one very much? Are you aware that freezing is a permanent and not a temporary action? By freezing a hatchling you retard the dragon so much that it will never mature. That, IMHO, it despicable.

We all have different goals for the game and I intend to get one of every type of sprite. So an Adult and Hatchling of each but no duplicates, except where the genders differ - like in the case of silvers - I want a Silver male adult and a silver male hatchling. I want a Silver female adult and a Silver female hatchling. As they look different.

I am sorry you find my choice of game play despicable. Have a lovely day and go find someone else to insult.

My apologies. It never occured to me that someone would play the game to get pretty pictures.

I only have msn or gtalk. My egg has not hatched yet so I want to hold on to it until it genders, is yours the one about to hatch? If it has time on it, maybe fog it for a few days so mine can catch up?

I would suggest fogging it then, because mine has not started to crack.

I could understand the indignity of inbreeding in real life. But in a fantasy game? Do computer generated dragons show problems with inbreeding? I haven't seen anything in the rules that say you shouldn't breed a dragon to one of its parents or a sibling to a sibling. Isn't that taking this game too far?

Why would you want to freeze a rare dragon? I wish I could trade you for the one you don't want, but I haven't ever had the opportunity to own one yet. Freezing isn't a temporary thing. It is a permanent thing. It permanently retards the dragon so that it will NEVER mature. I feel that it would be better to allow the dragon to mature and then set it free, if you don't want it and you think that it will hurt someone's breeding line.

Dont you think that your opposition to freezing is taking the game a little too far? I mean after all there is nothing in the rules saying that you can't/shouldn't freeze.

Perhaps. But most people freeze to save a sick hatchling, which I can understand. To freeze a rare healthy dragon, that many people are looking for, seems wanton to me. But then I probably am wrong in this also.

I can, however, see where you're coming from. It would probably be fairer to other players to share rares that you (in general sense) don't want instead of freezing them. This way, there's a higher chance that someone without a rare doesn't get one.

On the other hand, like monsqueek says, there's nothing in the rules against freezing on DC. People play the game however they want to. Some people freeze what is a perfectly good hatchling for collection purposes, or to quickly free up a space on their scroll, or for whatever reason. They're not wrong in doing so.

You're also not wrong in your opinion. That's one of the best things about DC. There's no wrong way to play the game.

I do, however, agree with you on the whole inbreeding thing. I don't see any repercussions from inbreeding on DC, so I don't get why people are willing to kill/freeze rare dragons because of it. o_O I don't mind inbred dragons. But...that's me.

And apologies for stepping into the discussion.
