Clicks for DA babies please, but only views needed for the DCers. I appreciate the effort, really, but no need to waste your time clicking on DCers; views are all that's needed for DC babies to grow up big and strong.
I used to think they were neccessary too - but I belong to another clicky comm and the mod there did an experiment:
Exp #1: alter code to allow no cicks and see if egg hatches/grows = success
Exp #2: take two new eggs of same type, make one clickable and one non-clickable and see if there is a difference in hatch/grow timing = no difference
So, based on those experiments, it was determined (on that comm) that clicks weren't needed at all. I tend to have very low click counts on my dragons now and they still do just fine and grow in the 'normal' time range between 3-4 days.
I have started getting a lot more clicks altely just because I've started posting here and people on here tend to "click" rather than just view, but I can tell you from experience that clicks are completely unneeded and IMO you can serve more DCers by, say, coming onto the Hatchery, refreshing the main page a couple times, going to the 'earlier' page and refreshing that a couple times too, and if you want, even going one page further back and doing the same. That way, people get a few views (I usually do 3 per page) AND many more posters get the benefit of those extra views since you don't get worn out clicking and clicking and clicking.... thus, stopping at the bottom of one page.
I also (if I pick up a low-time egg from the AP) will make a private post on my LJ of my own babies and let FireFox auto-refresh every 30 seconds on that post until my egg hatches. It's an easy way of nudging your low-time babies to hurry up and hatch. :)
That's pretty interesting. It seemed to me like before the server switch, more clicks made my eggs and hatchlings mature faster. Since then, they seem to take a lot longer no matter what. I did notice that my number of clicks seemed to drop there for like the whole week of V-day, so I didn't know if that was affecting it or not. It also seemed to me like maybe, at least lately, my daily clicks haven't been adding to the click number - like it only counts the clicks once. I was going to experiment with that, myself, but if you're right, maybe I'll just try refreshing. I usually come back to the comm. several times throughout the day to click in batches, so it seems like I'm already giving people plenty of views.
