I struggled as hard as I could. I called him every name I could think of, but I couldn't break free. He touched me all over and got pleasure from watching me flinch and scream. He signalled his men and they threw me to the ground and held me spread-eagled in front of him. I prepared myself for the inevitable as he started to unbuckle his belt.

Suddenly came the roar of a hundred dragons. Hundreds of orange dragons appeared out of nowhere and started swooping down at the soldiers and their horses. Giant talons and the dragon they were attached to caught the lieutenant and carried him up into the sky. With their leader gone, the soldiers panicked and ran away, while their horses bolted and galloped away.

From my viewpoint on the ground, I saw the large orange dragon carry the man higher and higher into the air. And then let him drop. The dragon caught him again, carrying him up higher and higher. And let him drop again. Over and over again. They were too far away for me to hear him scream.

Then the enormity of everything came crashing down on me. All my fears and pent up emotions hit me and I began to sob uncontrollably. I was so overwrought that I barely noticed that Donal had sat down next to me, covered me with a blanket and held me in his arms, as I continued to sob and cry.

I don’t know how long we were there, when I heard Orlando land nearby. He walked over to us.

"Is he dead?" I asked.

"Yes."

"Good."

Then he touched me, a wave of calm fell over me and I went to sleep.

I awoke sometime later because my breasts were so full of milk they were hurting. I felt disoriented as if coming out of a stupor. I opened my eyes. It was still daylight. Donal was a few feet off tending a fire. We were no longer on the road, but in some sort of clearing surrounded by trees. Donal must have heard me stirring, and walked over to me, concern and sadness written all over his face.

"Where is Jayzon?" I asked.

"The girls are trying to feed him some water that I warmed up. I sent them over there, so his crying wouldn't wake you."

"Would you bring him here?"

"You need your rest..."

"Perhaps, but I need to feed him more!"

"But..."

"I am full to bursting and am hurting a whole lot. I need to feed him!"

"Oh..."

He got up and returned a minute later with my squalling, squirming son. The minute I put Jayzon to my breast, he because to suckle fiercely.

Donal watched for a minute and then turned away, he face wracked with anguish.

"Donal? What is it?"

He mumbled something that I couldn't hear, and said so.

"I said that I should have protected you," he reiterated. "What kind of man am I? I couldn't even keep the woman that I love from being raped!"

"You tried! You were outnumbered twenty-five to one and you tried!"

"I should have protected you." He got up and walked away.

I started to cry as Jayzon continued to feed.

And hour later, I put my sleeping, well-fed baby into his cradle.

I needed to find Donal, but he was nowhere in sight. My children were on the other side of the clearing playing and unsupervised. I didn't know where he went, so I had to guess at a direction. I found the road only a couple of hundred yards away. But which way had he gone? I decided to go left and walked down the road, calling his name.
I hadn't gone far, when I started to hear a baby crying. Jayson? I wondered how he could have gone so far away. I followed the sound which lead me farther down the road, to a widening and I began to scream.
