what? a mod post? wow!
here's what i got - there's always going to be lurkers in public comms, and this one is no exception. there was a comment left in an entry that suggested dislike for shows and fandoms should be kept in personal journals, not comms, and that we should show a fan unity - and (presumably) love everything that Neal is in.
here's the thing - yes, i'm a hands-off, laissez-faire mod, but i haven't seen any posts in the comm that show absolute hate for shows or movies. but this is why we have comms: for discussions - and not just one-sided discussions either.
there has been nothing said in this comm which is derogatory or defaming of the Desperate Housewives fandom or the show; just Neal fans who have expressed their dislike for the show - which is someone's right to do just as much those have a right to post their love for the show. heck, I don't even watch the show. (hell, i didn't even watch DH for Nathan Fillion - doesn't mean i'm no less of a Nathan fan, neither..)
there are members here who DO show a lot of support towards Neal: downloading, capping, uploading and posting picspams; making icons; and posting promos, articles, and critics' reactions to Neal.
Members should not have to censor what they say (as long as it's polite and civil). If a poster likes the show, then they should make a post about it. if someone doesn't like the show, they have their right to post that as well - as long as it's constructive, and not outright thoughtless bashing.
(if you want a fun experience with all the "hate" on DH, check out the DH message board on ABC.com. i've heard that it's a fount of hate - and that's technically a comm.)
All of us are not going to like everything that Neal does, but the whole idea is to support Neal.
(and much thanks to gatechic. you know why.)
