Hey gang... -Trys, hope you don't mind me jumping in here-

Street Fighter is among us!!

I just got back from seeing it. I have thoughts.

Neal, I love you forever.
NEVER do an Irish accent again. Please. o.O

It's really not a spoiler that I know of. If you disagree, I'm happy to put it behind a cut.

Though the brother and I did *giggleSNORT* the entire time...

Anyway...
So, let's call this the SF thread, yes? :)

P.S. As for the "big question"... I'll leave that comment below. :D

There WILL be spoilers in the comments. You have been warned.

I'm not sure either, but he seems to be mentioning it a lot lately or maybe he's campaigning for himself. ;)

One critic said that Neal and Michael were the only bright spots in the film.

And you'd think that having two parents from Ireland, he would be able to do the accent. *slaps Neal..gently of course*

Indeed! When he first started talking, I seriously thought he was doing Craig...

LMAO!

Oh and speaking of Craig...you do know what today is, right?

Chris Klein and Moon Bloodgood were a waste of film... nothing against Moon. She was fine. CK was ... well... Moon was fine ;)

My friend and I enjoyed the whole film as just action fluff, but we decided they could have dropped the whole Interpol/cop storyline and gave us more minutes in the fights. Seriously, Vega got cut so we could have the joke about gold handcuffs? From characters not even part of the Street Fighter franchise! *Snort* They should have just left in them finding the heads and coming in with more guns at the end.

Not that he was effectual at the end either. DUDE, Interpol is okay with seventeen-years-olds seeing their fathers offed in front of them? I could love a sequel where Rose goes crazy from that.

Back to lurking.

Hell, Interpol's fine with having their agents stand out in the open firing randomly, even when there is perfectly good cover available... plus they hired Nash, so I'm really not surprised...

I have no idea why Guile would even bother avenging Nash's death. :P

Oh man, I used to stay up late watching Silk Stalkings when I was younger, with a towel stuffed under the door so my parents didn't know I was watching it.

Guile really gets his revenge on for NASH?! That was something I knew the first movie had altered to streamline the characters, but the thought of Guile wasting his vengeance fury on that schmuck makes me want to cry.

Swedish chick? I haven't kept up with the video game series. The only girls I knew were Chun-Li and Cammie (British).

The first Street Fighter I adored for it's campy charm, and Raul was having so much fun unleashing his inner megalomaniac. Eventually I grew to admire it's scriptwriters for being able to pull together an ensemble cast that large without losing most of the characters. Mortal Kombat II tried and epic!failed. (When Christopher Lambert won't be in your sequel, there are issues.) But if there was fan fury over the first not being true to the games, it ought to look Oscar worthy in comparison.

And no offense to Moon, because I thought she did an excellent job with her material, but everything with her and Nash--aside from the heads scene--should have hit the cutting room floor. Asking as a writer, what purpose do those scenes serve? Prove Bison is a bad guy? All the other Bison scenes covered that one thoroughly. Prove Bison was international? Speaking everyone's native tongue at the dinner meeting proved that one. We need to have more guns for storming the compound, so we need to set up these characters. Shipping container scene did that and proved Bison has a sick sense of humor. :p

It's movies like this that A) make me write fanfiction and B) make me wish that Hollywood would do casting calls on script ideas to the various fandoms. Seriously, you'd get a lot of crap in the submissions but that's why you hire interns. Writers who understand the characters, universe, can give it whatever unique spin got the producer and studio interested, and can write scripts would surface if they would give it a try.

Aw, you're making me blush.

My copy of the first Street Fighter came out of the cheap DVD bins at Wal-Mart a few years back, so it is available on DVD. I just don't know how easy it would be to score one now. If copying DVDs was available to me, I'd send you one but alas, I have no DVD burner.

Was Rose speaking Swedish? That was the only language I didn't peg. Gen is Shoalin. I heard translating-the-scroll Chinese lady say "Shoalin" when talking about the Order of the Web. And yes, I did have a crush on Peter Caine many moons ago.

I've only really played the old Street Fighter 2 and the brand new Street Fighter 4, but yeah, Guile's always trying to get revenge on Bison for killing his war buddy Nash.

And Rose is a game character and actually does have the good part of Bison's soul, but she has purple hair, isn't actually his daughter, and hails from Italy.
