Either he thought he'd give it a go knowing Ruve would understand then changed his mind or, more likely, he thought they would change it... the question is did he simply assume they would change it (as the article suggests) OR was he sweet talked into thinking they would change it before he accepted the role, and then confronted with the truth once they started shooting?
I obviously don't have an answer to that.
But if it's any consolation, how many series are remade for another audience without turning to complete and utter crap? (Reality TV and game shows not included). I had misgivings about this project as soon as it was announced and at least now I don't have to worry about it from a Neal fan perspective. :P

I'm thinking this is the real reason. He's always been upfront about his beliefs, even before he has signed on to do a role. I'm really beginning to believe ABC duped him.
