AN: So this came from a discussion I had with beach_goddess13 about how Jared is ALWAYS eating candy and how we think his skin would TASTE like it. Obviously it quickly delved into the realm of pervy, but we also talked about this story idea. I hope you like it :)
Brooke sat in Jared’s trailer, searching every cabinet for some chocolate or candy of some sort. She had a serious sweet tooth sometimes and she knew Jared did too. It was because of this that she knew he had SOMETHING in the trailer, but she was unable to find what she was looking for. She smiled at the thought of Jared, allowing herself a moment of girly glee.
She and Jared had met randomly on the streets of Vancouver when his dogs knocked her and her groceries over. He helped her collect the variety of vegetables that had fallen out of the brown bags and insisted on walking her back to her apartment with his now calm dogs. When he asked for her phone number she was shocked that someone as gorgeous as him would even think of calling her, but he smiled at her and she programmed it into his own cell phone.
And this was where they were now. Brooke had just gotten out of a very long relationship and so they were taking things very slow. She was glad that he was respecting her wishes, but she sometimes wished she had the guts to just kiss him. She knew she was completely over her ex-boyfriend and that Jared was someone she could easily fall in love with. If she was honest with herself, she was halfway there already.
Suddenly the trailer door flew open and Jared bounded into the small area. Brooke quickly slammed the cabinet door closed and turned to face him, an innocent look on her face. He playfully glared at her and closed the door behind him and she noticed he was chewing something.
“What were you doing?” he asked around a mouthful of some form of food. Though she wasn’t surprised. If she had learned anything about Jared, it was that he ate. A lot.
“Nothing.”
He looked at her and knew she was acting way too innocent. “You’re lying.”
“Maybe I am.”
“What were you doing?” Now there was a smile on his face, his dimples showing, making her smile.
“I was looking for candy,” she admitted. “And because it’s YOU I figured you’d have something in here.”
“I dunno. You couldn’t find it…” He was still chewing and she knew it was candy.
“What are you eating?” she asked, her voice high with suspicion. He knew he was caught but put on an innocent act, coming up with the first thing he could think of.
“Raisins,” he said, quickly swallowing whatever it was he had.
“You lie. You don’t like raisins,” she accused. And he knew she was right. He didn’t remember telling her that, but it was true. He stayed silent, and from his place by the door he watched as she narrowed her eyes and walk toward him. He wanted to laugh at how goofy they were being, but kept up the charade to see where she was going with this. “So I ask again. What were you eating?”
He playfully glared at her once more before resting his hands on her hips, feeling the heat of her skin through her jeans and t-shirt. “It’s a secret,” he whispered, the nearness of her making his head swim. They had been seeing each other for nearly three months now and he didn’t want to force anything on her. Brooke had told him about her ex-boyfriend leaving her for some inane reason that he couldn’t even remember. She was left heartbroken after being together nearly five years. That had happened a month before they met, so the wound was still fresh and hurting badly. He could see it in her eyes every time he saw her. Recently, though, the hurt had faded and he noticed lightness in her coffee colored eyes and her entire being. She smiled brightly more often and her laugh was heard loud and clear.
Jared wanted nothing more than to kiss Brooke in this moment, but he didn’t want to push her too far so he refrained.
Brooke stood there, his large hands holding her gently, their teasing completely forgotten. She could smell the sugary sweetness of candy on his breath, but his intense gaze was what had a hold on her. Emotions swirled in the green orbs and she had trouble reading him. One thought swam through her head, though, and that was to kiss him. She knew she was ready to take that step and cross the line she had drawn when they met.
Placing her hands on his arms, she stood on her tiptoes and closed her eyes, allowing her own instinct to take over. Their lips met in a gentle, sweet kiss, his hands tightening on her hips and quickly going back to the gentle hold he had on her. His tongue hesitantly licked along her lips and she opened for him, tasting the sweetness of whatever sugary candy he had been eating.
After a few moments, they pulled away from one another, small content smiles on both of their faces. In that moment, Brooke knew that she would forever associate candy with Jared and his kisses, no matter what.
