THE SKINNY: Vampires are all the rage. The winner of the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival was Sweden's Tomas Alfredson's LAT DEN RATTE KOMMA IN (LET THE RIGHT ONE IN), about first love between a boy and the vampire next door, announced Variety.
The festival, started by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, has grown to become almost as high profile as Sundance. This year 120 features and 80 shorts screened from 40 countries....

New narrative filmmaker: Huseyin Karabey's GITMEK: MY MARLON AND BRANDO,
Acting award went to Thomas Turgoose (SHANE MEADOWS) and Piotr Jagiello (SOMERS TOWN).
Actress award went to Eileen Walsh (EDEN).
Documentary feature winner went to Gini Reticker's PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO HELL, about Liberian woman who steered the 2003 peace accords.
New documentary filmmaker went to Carlos Carcas for OLD MEN BEBO, about a Cuban musician behind the mambo.
New York awards went to Daniela Zanzotto's ZONED IN, about race and class in U.S. education, and Richard Lede's THE CALLER a thriller set in the corporate world.
The best narrative short went to Steph Green for NEW BOY, while best short documentary went to Jessica Habie for MANDATORY SERVICE.
The student visionary award went to Sasie Sealy's ELEPHANT GARDEN.
The audience winner will be announced on Saturday during the fest's broadcast.
This year's jurors were Oliver Platt, Whoopi Goldberg, Peter Dinklage, Molly Shannon, Callie Khouri, Peter Hedges and Doug Liman, Josh Schwartz, Jay McInerney and producer Christine Vachon.
