Actor v. Character?

ok, so some buddies and i were chatting, and the question of who we wanted was raised: Jensen or "Dean"? which you can extend to Jared or "Sam"? Sebastian Spence or "Cade"? i mean, who is it that we really want?

my answer, after several lines of chat back and forth, is it's gotta be Dean. (Jensen would need some converting, besides. he's a cowboys fan, i'm an eagles fan; we're supposed to hate each other on general principle) NOT that i would have a problem with Jensen, really. guess that makes me a Dean-fangirl. NOT that there's anything wrong with that!

ok, so: who do you want, the actor or the character? and who (cause there's multiple fandoms here)

I'd have to say Dean without hesitation. I don't know anything much about Jensen, what kind of person he really is, his interests and values, beyond what's offered in the answers he gives to TV and magazines. And even then, I tune in to those outlets for interviews from the actor only very sparingly. Besides, I really don't think I'm attracted to Jensen for anything besides his looks.

As for Dean... I am so in love with him, it's not funny. He's got the whole package: he's gorgeous, smart, extremely funny, caring, and loyal almost to a fault. Plus, he gets extra points for manifesting a vulnerability and a loneliness that neither anyone nor time has been able to cure. You love him because you can identify with him. He needs protection! And love! Preferably from a cute girl (who can see beyond his wisecracks to recognize the hurt that lurks underneath)! Who wouldn't love to take on this challenge? He's popular with the ladies, and understandably so.

Sam, on the other hand, is... difficult to capture. He's got a lot of baggage, which spells trouble. I have this sense that he's someone you really need to coax in order to get him to open up to you. He provides a nice contrast to Dean in character study, but I wouldn't exactly choose to get close to him just because he would make it really hard.

i'm definitely Dean, as i said in the original post. we're both smart-asses. jensen, i've only seen a few interviews with the guy, but he looks like fun.
