Actor v. Character?

ok, so some buddies and i were chatting, and the question of who we wanted was raised: Jensen or "Dean"? which you can extend to Jared or "Sam"? Sebastian Spence or "Cade"? i mean, who is it that we really want?

my answer, after several lines of chat back and forth, is it's gotta be Dean. (Jensen would need some converting, besides. he's a cowboys fan, i'm an eagles fan; we're supposed to hate each other on general principle) NOT that i would have a problem with Jensen, really. guess that makes me a Dean-fangirl. NOT that there's anything wrong with that!

ok, so: who do you want, the actor or the character? and who (cause there's multiple fandoms here)

I'd have to say Dean without hesitation. I don't know anything much about Jensen, what kind of person he really is, his interests and values, beyond what's offered in the answers he gives to TV and magazines. And even then, I tune in to those outlets for interviews from the actor only very sparingly. Besides, I really don't think I'm attracted to Jensen for anything besides his looks.

As for Dean... I am so in love with him, it's not funny. He's got the whole package: he's gorgeous, smart, extremely funny, caring, and loyal almost to a fault. Plus, he gets extra points for manifesting a vulnerability and a loneliness that neither anyone nor time has been able to cure. You love him because you can identify with him. He needs protection! And love! Preferably from a cute girl (who can see beyond his wisecracks to recognize the hurt that lurks underneath)! Who wouldn't love to take on this challenge? He's popular with the ladies, and understandably so.

Sam, on the other hand, is... difficult to capture. He's got a lot of baggage, which spells trouble. I have this sense that he's someone you really need to coax in order to get him to open up to you. He provides a nice contrast to Dean in character study, but I wouldn't exactly choose to get close to him just because he would make it really hard.

i'm definitely Dean, as i said in the original post. we're both smart-asses. jensen, i've only seen a few interviews with the guy, but he looks like fun.

I'd pick Sebastian over "Cade" since Cade's got that whole alien population trying to kill him and all. Plus there'd be that whole mess with Jordan to deal with. Ewww.

As for others not specifically mentioned in your question ...

"Drew" over Orlando ... Drew being the character he played in Elizabethtown. I'm madly in love with Drew.

Actually, Drew over Legolas, Todd, Will, Joe, Jimmy, Paris, Balian, or Orlando. :)

But definitely Viggo over any of this characters, although Aragorn is quite appealing.

And Sean over any of his characters. *dies*

of course, since i brought him up, i'd go for Sebastian, not "Cade," cause Cade had one true love in Hannah, and to hell with Jordan. although "Eddie" would be fun to hang out with.

Sebastian, i don't know all that much about, when you get to it.

I bet Dean's very different when he's with a girl he loves than what we've seen of him so far. -I had a boyfriend once that everybody thought was a real bad ass. He seemed to have two moods; broody & angry. He was big (tall+muscles), had long hair & wore black all the time. He scared alot of ppl.. But when the two of us were alone.. he'd relax, get all mushy and touchy feely.. Quite funny. Little cute me was def. the boss of that relationship! :-)

at the momment I'd pick Dean. Of course I regularly chant i am so obsessed with Dean! But I agree it's the characters we fall for not the actor's. Wouldn't mind given Jensen a chance, nope wouldn't mind that a bit. But I have to admit, there are some characters that I just wish were real people because they seem so ideal. Who wouldn't want to marry Wash? Except for the whole early demise issue. Talkin Firefly folks. Sean Patrick Flanery I know i misspelled that last name, bad fangirl, I just have no clue what he is like but good god I might have to take a blind marriage proposal to him one day and just try to wing it. Nobody moves like that man. And the way he wears clothes...well our Dean works that well his own self. It's all about the mouths people Sean and Jensen use their beautiful mouths in such a way as I feel the need to quote Jayne from..."Firefly"..."I'll be in my bunk". Hurredly walks off. Yup, betcha couldn't tell the mouth issue from my icon. I am a closed book that's for sure. My 2 Cents plus all done now.

Sean Patrick "Flannery," i believe. and i've never seen Firefly (don't hurt me), although it's been recommended.

i wouldn't mind the character John Crichton either. Nick Knight would just be broody for me.

I don't hurt non Firefly folks. I just say be a browncoat and have some of the best fun you can have. I can't believe i forgot Ben. Stupid stupid. John Crchton any day of the week and twice on sundays. I got it off off Jensen Ackles Unlimited I think or maybe Supernatural.tv I can look at the photo album and tell you...supernatural.tv is where i found it mixed in with the shots from and I'm reaching either Windego or the next ep, bad memory recall but I just have bad memory it is part of the pics where you see Dean with the pen in his mouth and ya know he reminds Sam they are allowed to have fun. And that's fun. Never been so not offended by a guy in my life. I shrunk the pictue to get the close up of his face. I was told that was the first pic my friend had seen of Jensen's tongue. She's been cruisin the sites longer. I was without a computer for a while. Anyway if you can't track the pick down let me know and I'll send it your way.
