Is anyone watching L&O LA? In the last eps, there was this old case that sent an innocent person to prison and was abused by her cell mate and when the abuser was released, the abusee killed her. Now here is the thing, the ADD was sleeping with the presiding judge when the innocent person was sent to prison the first time. First person I thought of was David McNorris.

Disclaimer: Boomtown was created by Graham Yost and produced by NBC, while credit for Desperate Housewives goes to Marc Cherry and ABC. The wonderful Neal McDonough also deserves special mention for breathing life into David McNorris and Dave Williams. The fic title is a nod to the pop duo that released the 1986 album Boomtown.

Author's Note: I've tried to combine the storytelling devices of the two shows. In classic Boomtown style, the story will be pieced together using the viewpoints of different characters instead of being told in chronological order. The omniscient ghost of Mary Alice does some narrating as per DH. But by the end of the story you’ll know everything you need to.

Gone Too Soon: Boomtown

I remember watching Boomtown for the first time. I remember where I was, and at what point in our lives it was on the air. Now, I watch a lot of television and have seen and forgotten more shows than most people would ever even want to be aware of. But Boomtown had that much of an impact on me.

Oh, I'm a sucker for a unique premise or take on familiar territory. I first tuned in to 24 because it took place in "real time," and I just had to see how that would work. I tuned into Boomtown because it promised me a look at crime from every possible perspective. How, I wondered, is that possible? And yet it brilliantly, beautifully and all too briefly was.
