cuts are optional for this comm - i've found out from all the comms i'm on, sprites and clickables behind a cut don't get as much loving as those you can readily see on the comm or your flist.

i've also figured out i suck at polls, so i hope i've covered the main possibilities here. the reason i have the optio for only the DC sprites outside the cut is that they really new the views and unique views - so even if they just load on the screen it counts. clicks are pretty much up to the discretion of the person reading the post. other sprites - pokemon, valenths, unicreatures - they need the clicks, not the views. so...what do you think about LJ-cuts?

... need to vent?

it went down last week too - it's almost standard these days. there's a pretty green St. Patty's background, that only like three people can see....

and last time the Cave went down, people lost eggs and hatchies, even with the time that was put back on.

i'm trying to participate in the Adopt-a-Mint (or other greenies) day - i did get a frill for J and a mint for M. but i have until 5 to get mine - i'm still off-line at home. *sigh* i might miss this one too.

if it loads on my flist, i've given it a view. i'll go to the post if it's behind a cut. two of my LJ comms require cuts, so on one i go back to my entry, and on the other i go to the bottom of the first page; open the post. then i use the next arrow and view all the posts until it says there are no more. i rarely click on the Cave sprites, since i know that it's the views that matter. and i view in stealth mode, unless someone asks a question or something.

if i put my sprites on Eggs will be Dragons (or the DC Fansite), i'll have the pop-up windows giving views just about all day long.

i know a lot of this varies person-to-person - i post in 9 LJ comms, EwbD sometimes, and even my own LJ to give a little hatchie a boost.

Now, organizing this would be extrememly simple. You wouldn't even have to sign up. Just agree to two things:

1. From March 16, 11pm TJ time (4 am March 17, GMT) to March 18, 1am TJ time (6am March 18 GMT) you will not breed any dragons. Even your regularly scheduled pairs can wait a day.

2. During that time period you will pick up a mint egg from the abandoned page and at least hatch it. If for some reason you really don't want a mint, any green egg would do. (pebbles, vines and frills)

Now, as to why [she] added in the no-breeding clause. We all know that the abandon page gets clogged frequently. For that one day, it would be less clogged. Also, this means none of us would be breeding more mints to be left languishing there. For those who might be concerned that there wouldn't be enough mints to go around, consider that most people would be breeding as usual. There is never a shortage of mints.

got a question about the Cave, the game, the dragons? i'll see if i know the answer, or know somewhere the answer could be found. (granted i've only been on the Cave since the beginning of December, but i've learned a few things. heh.)

yesterday i mentioned about being scroll-locked, and when someone asked what that was (it's when you're full-up and can't get or breed anymore eggs - having 5 eggs, or 5+ hatchies will do it), i remembered seeing a post on the forum about some of the terminology that gets used.

so, to start off, i found the DC Terminology Post. however, keep in mind while this is dated only from December 12, 2008, there are some new/different things since the server change (last month, i believe).

two things that are different that come to mind are (1) hatching and growing up times are now random (it used to that if the program thought the numbers were right it would hatch or grow up by 3.5 days. now it's anywhere between 2 and 4 mostly); and (2) if you abandon an egg or hatchie, it only adds a day to it the very first time. (it used to be that each time you'd abandon a sprite it would add a day. not anymore.)

i'm sure there are more, so ask away!

anyway, i can repost this every so often, but it thought we could have a general discussion post about some things that we wanted to talk about about the Cave, dragons, questions and things...

such as - i have a hatchie that has 3 days and 11 hours left, and he's sick! so i had to fog him. gah!
